We believe all students can advance academically, socially and emotionally
Programs
Foundations Program
The Foundations Program helps students prepare for traditional high school academics and/or transition into the workforce. Students are assigned to the program according to their individual learning needs, including academic, developmental and social functioning. The Foundations Program emphasizes functional communication, building independence and developing pro-social behaviors. Teachers incorporate individualized lessons, differentiated instruction, group collaboration, hands-on activities and real-life learning experiences to enhance the students’ experience and ensure progress.
Transition Program
The objective of the Transition Program at Atlantis Academy is to promote success for students as they move from school to adult life and the workforce. The students who participate in this program learn about themselves, their strengths, growth areas, goals, opportunities and options. The knowledge and skills gained from the program positions students to gain power over their actions and set goals for a successful and satisfying life.
We partner with Easter Seals in the STRIVE Hospitality Program, in which students learn about opportunities in the hotel and lodging industry. They also participate in field experiences in the local community and hear about hospitality careers from guest speakers. Students develop important soft skills such as communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving, then practice their skills in a simulated hotel setting. Students can earn certificates from The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute in positions such as front desk representative, guest room attendant and guest services.
