A day in the life of my school! By: Alexis Tischler

Hi, my name is Alexis Tischler, and I’m a student of Atlantis Academy. I’m here to tell you a little about my ordinary day at school. Though, my days aren’t ordinary. They are interesting and fun! I know what ya’ll are thinking. How can school be fun? Well, I can honestly say it is. I have a lot of great friends here, and even best friends. The teachers are very kind, and make it easy to learn.

I get to school early in the morning. I eat my school breakfast, which is really good, especially the French toast. First, I do the school morning announcements with my friend Cody. We talk about our school’s upcoming events, weather, and we announce birthdays. We each take a turn of saying something, but announcing birthdays is my job.

Next, I go to my American Government class. Mr. Mac makes learning very easy to understand, and he always finds fun ways for us to learn about history.

As soon as I see the clock strike 9:30, I know its time for Journalism. Mrs. Fallon teaches Journalism. She is a lovely teacher, and super smart! Journalism is always a favorite of mine. I get into class, and write about the journal topic that is on the board. I take out my notebook and prepare for taking notes, or discussing an upcoming project. If it is our week to do the school newspaper, every student is assigned a job. We get to have our input on what should be in the paper, and what we want to do to contribute to it. I like to do fashion columns, or write poetry for the paper.

Math is my next class. I do the warm up on the board, and then Mr. Krabill reviews them on the board. If I have a question, I ask him, and he happily does the problem again until I understand it. The year isn’t even half over and I have learned a lot! We then complete additional problems out of our math book or we get a worksheet to apply our skills.

After Math class, I have Science. Mr. Seger is our Science teacher. He does cool experiments that we get to help out in. He has us read aloud and take notes. Occasionally, on a Friday we see an educational science movie. In order to have that privilege, we need to be respectful and work hard. My favorite film is “Bill Nye the Science Guy”.

Finally, my favorite part of the day is here! Lunch! I get my school lunch. They are delicious! Then, I grab a seat next to my friends. At the end of lunch we go outside for a few minutes. I head for the swings, or the basketball court.

Electives are after lunch for me. P.E, Art, and Health Class are my electives. Every day is different. Mr. Mongon teaches P.E, and Health class. He’s fun, and always encourages us to try our best. Teamwork is very important to him, and he teaches us to be a team player, which we will need throughout our life. Mr. Mac teaches Art. Art is my favorite class. I have loved art my whole life! I’m a pretty good artist and Mr. Mac helps me become better at every class.

My last period of the day is College Board English. It sounds hard doesn’t it? That’s what I thought, but it’s fairly easy. Okay, it can be challenging at times, but Mrs. Fallon is there to help. The clock strikes three and it’s the end of the day. Another great day at Atlantis!
