Mary A. Joyner
Director

Mary Joyner is a Florida Certified Professional educator in the field of English. She has taught in both public and private settings for more than six years. She earned her bachelor of science in business administration with a minor in marketing/management. She also earned an associate of arts degree in computer science. She has more than 13 years in the field of accounting and management of businesses.

Lauren Altschuler
Office Manager
Lauren Altschuler has more than 30 years of experience in office administration. She has played a lead role in coordinating school wide events and has supervised summer camps for grades K-8. Lauren has two years of teaching experience at the Pre-K level.

Sharon Parker
Bookkeeper

Sharon Parker has been working in the field of accounting and office administration for 34 years. She earned an associate of arts in art/humanities and is currently working towards her bachelor of arts in fine arts. Sharon also has a background in art and theatre and has been working with adolescents for more than seven years at a local community theatre.

 

Teachers


Leslie Butler (Middle School)

Leslie Butler has earned her master of elementary education/special education as well as her bachelor of arts in psychology. She has been in public and private education for 18 years and has spent 10 years teaching Civil Air Patrol classes to youth ages 12-18. She has worked with the local science museum in its summer camp programs.

Kevin McIlvain (Art Education)

Kevin McIlvain has a bachelor of science in art education and an associate’s degree in graphic communications. He has seven years teaching experience in both public and private schools.

Ted John Mongon (Physical Education)

Ted Mongon graduated from State University of New York Cortland College with a bachelor of science in physical education in 1997. He moved to Florida in 1999, and he started working a summer camp job at Atlantis Academy. Shortly thereafter, he became the physical education teacher. Mr. Mongon has also spent four years as a youth athletic coach.

Andrea Schroeder (Elementary School)

Andrea Schroeder has been with Atlantis Academy for seven years. She holds a bachelor of science in elementary education and a master’s degree in reading (developmental and remedial).She has teaching certification for K-12 reading and 18 years teaching experience in both public and private schools.

John (Jay) Servinsky (Foundations)

Jay Servinsky has a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. He has been a member of the Atlantic Academy faculty for five years and he served four years as a preschool teacher (including Before/After School programs).

Kerri Jenal (Foundations)
Kerri Jenal studied at Nassau College and Adelphi University in New York. She recently moved from New York to Florida in April 2010. In New York, she worked for two years as a paraprofessional in a self-contained special education classroom. She completed her training with Kidz Therapy in conducting functional behavior assessments and understanding data collection and applied behavior analysis.

Kathleen M. Clemens (Foundations) 
Kathleen Clemens is a State of Florida certified teacher in exceptional student education. She has the status of being a highly qualified educator by the U.S. Department of Education. She is a graduate of Smith College with a degree in philosophy with a minor in public policy and government. She worked as an executive director in the field of public health for ten years. Ms. Clemens has been in the teaching field for over 6 years and also worked as a certified reading specialist in her own private tutoring business for five years.

Jennifer Huxford (High School Science)
Jennifer Huxford holds degrees from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, Lesley University, and is currently working on her doctorate in neuroscience in education at Nova Southeastern University. Mrs. Huxford uses brain-based education and a unique hands-on approach to drive her teaching. Mrs. Huxford has over 18 years of experience teaching. She is also a member of the Learning and the Brain Consortium.

Diana Fernandez (High School English & Spanish)
Diana Fernandez joins us from the Palm Beach School District. She has over 15 years of teaching experience. Diana also has extensive experience in the arts. She organizes multicultural events on campus and assists our Hispanic families with translation services as well as obtaining necessary community resources.

Dr. Roger Allen (Student Support)
Dr. Allen holds multiple degrees including his doctorate which he received from Rochville University in London. Dr. Allen is both an experienced educator and administrator. He has worked with traditional, at-risk, and exceptional students during his career in both the UK and the United States.

Kirstin Roe (Elementary School)
Ms. Roe is an enthusiastic educator who has joined us from the Kinchafoonee Primary School in Leesburg, Georgia. She holds a bachelor of science in education from Georgia Southern University. Ms. Roe began teaching with Atlantis Academy during the 2010-2011 school year. She has served as a summer camp coordinator and was also certified by the State of Georgia as an early childhood educator and paraprofessional educator.

Karen Fitzgerald (Foundations)
Karen Fitzgerald joins us from the Palm Beach School District. Ms. Fitzgerald earned her master’s degree in education and holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational management/education. She has additional experience and training in the areas of test proctoring and the use of Braille for visually impaired students.

Michelle Brock (Middle School)
Michelle Brock is a talented educator with several years of experience in working with special needs students. She holds a master’s degree in education PK-12. She has taught in the United States, Costa Rica, and China. Ms. Brock has taught children of all ages and abilities. She served as a full time tutor with the United States Embassy from 2008-2011.

Tiffany Hollis-Cole (High School Social Sciences)
Tiffany Hollis-Cole joins us from Agape Christian Academy in Orlando, Florida where she served as a guidance counselor. Ms. Hollis-Cole holds a bachelor of science in psychology as well as master of education in technology in education. Ms. Hollis-Cole was previously employed by the School District of Palm Beach County as a secondary social studies teacher. She has also worked in the mental health field with social service agencies serving at risk youth and families.

Sabrina Kiang (After Care Program & Individual Student Support Assistant)
Sabrina Kiang supports the aftercare program for families who are in need of extended care. Mrs. Kiang also works one to one with students in need of individual support in the classroom. Mrs. Kiang assists in creating incentive activities for students who have shown academic, behavioral, and individual growth. 

Theresa Kewley (Early Intensive Foundations Lead Teacher) 
Theresa Kewley is an experienced teacher in the field of special education. Mrs. Kewley taught in the public school sector at John I. Leonard High School to students with varying exceptionalities and most recently served as the Assistant Director at the Cambridge School in Wellington. In addition, Mrs. Kewley coordinated the Early Learning Program for the local South Florida Science Museum. She is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Saint Leo University.

Vivienne Reibling (Elementary School)
Vivienne Reibling is a graduate of Ashford University where she holds a bachelor of arts in psychology (social science with a concentration in education). Mrs. Reibling previously taught kindergarten through second grade at Atlantis Academy.

Arlene Colavito (Middle School)
Arlene Colavito is a Florida certified teacher of English 6-12, Social Science 6-12, and Elementary K-6. She has also been identified as Highly Qualified under the No Child Left Behind regulations. Mrs. Colavito incorporates technology, multiple intelligences, and cooperative learning into her teaching style. Mrs. Colavito is the recipient of multiple teaching awards including two Distinguished Teaching Awards.

Mark Caras (High School Math)
Mark Caras joins us from the Diocese of Palm Beach County where he taught several math courses and levels. Mr. Caras studied at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, where he earned a bachelor of science in science. Mr. Caras holds a Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate in Mathematics 6-12 and Physics 6-12.

                             

All staff members are trained in CPR, first aid, and nonviolent crisis intervention.
